  3.       On your coverdisk is a demo version of DrawStudio,
  4.       the great new drawing program by Graham and Andy Dean
  5.       and published by LH Publishing. This demo version is
  6.       Save, Print and Export disabled but all other functions
  7.       are fully working. This enables you to play and see all
  8.       of the great things that DrawStudio can do.

  12.       on the Amiga and the first from the UK for quite a
  13.       while. We urge all Amiga users to follow our lead and
  14.       if you like this program, please support the authors

  21.       What is DrawStudio?
  22.       -------------------
  23.       DrawStudio is the premier drawing and illustration
  24.       package for the Amiga range of computers. DrawStudio
  25.       is an ideal package for many uses, including:

  31.            - Diagrams for reports and dissertations

  36.       Andy and Graham Dean are the authors of DrawStudio.
  37.       Both of them have several years of Amiga programming
  38.       experience behind them, having written the award
  39.       winning ImageStudio and TextureStudio packages. In
  40.       creating DrawStudio, no corners have been cut in
  41.       producing the highest quality software coding for
  42.       maximum speed and functionality on the Amiga.

  45.       many features only found in more expensive packages

  53.       DrawStudio - The best drawing package on the Amiga?
  54.       ---------------------------------------------------
  55.       DrawStudio is a drawing and illustration package,
  56.       which is different from a paint package. Paint
  57.       packages are the more common form of art programs
  58.       found on the Amiga, probably due to the powerful
  59.       graphics chipset that separated the Amiga from the
  60.       rest of the computers back in the late 1980's.
  61.  
  62.       Paint packages are used to "paint" the colours of
  63.       pixels on the screen, similar to the way a brush is
  64.       used to apply paint to a canvas. If you want to draw
  65.       a yellow circle with a paint package, it is easy -
  66.       simply select yellow and use the circle tool to draw
  67.       a circle. But what if you want to move the yellow
  68.       circle after you have drawn it?
  69.  
  70.       Some packages allow you to undo the last operation,
  71.       but what happens if you drew the circle several
  72.       operations ago or you have now drawn some more shapes
  73.       over the parts of the circle?

  75.       With a paint package, all you can essentially do is
  76.       paint more colours over existing ones - it is
  77.       difficult or impossible to modify the shapes drawn
  78.       afterwards.

  81.       This is where a drawing package comes in. A drawing
  82.       package, like DrawStudio, will remember that you drew
  83.       a yellow circle on the page so that should you want
  84.       to change the circle later you can by just "picking
  85.       it up" and changing it. You can recolour it, resize
  86.       it, twist it, fill it, rotate it and many other
  87.       operations any time you want.

  89.       The downside to traditional drawing programs is that
  90.       they tend to have a less exciting range of available
  91.       shapes and effects than paint packages.

  93.       DrawStudio blurs the divide between drawing and paint
  94.       packages by providing all the advantages of a drawing
  95.       package with many of the creative effects and tools
  96.       usually only found in paint packages.

  98.       DrawStudio allows you to bulge, warp, reshape and
  99.       distort objects as well as apply a wide range of
  100.       colour effects and fills. By importing and saving in
  101.       common Amiga bitmap and drawing package formats,
  102.       using DrawStudio artwork with existing Amiga packages
  103.       couldn't be easier. DrawStudio uses a standard Amiga
  104.       interface, making the program easy to use for both
  105.       new and experienced Amiga owners.

  110.       A quick look at some of the program's main features
  111.       will reveal some of the tools available to you.

  113.            - Easy to use. A great deal of effort has been
  114.            placed in making DrawStudio easy to use by both
  115.            the beginner and the professional. A standard
  116.            Amiga user interface combined with a wide range
  117.            of tools provide the capability for all users to
  118.            produce high quality work.

  120.            - Wide range of shapes. All the standard shapes
  121.            are available for drawing with, including lines,
  122.            curves, circles, ellipses and freehand tools.

  124.            - Powerful text handling. DrawStudio supports
  125.            the standard Adobe Type 1 font format, allowing
  126.            high quality text at any size. Text can be
  127.            formatted, resized and even warped and
  128.            distorted.

  130.            - Full colour support. All the colour
  131.            information is kept to 24 bits of accuracy
  132.            within DrawStudio, irrespective of the number of
  133.            colours on the Amiga's display.

  135.            - Powerful colour fills. Both the outlines and
  136.            the fills of objects in DrawStudio can be filled
  137.            with either a solid colour, a repeating pattern,
  138.            complex gradient or bitmap image. All colours
  139.            support transparency, allowing objects to colour
  140.            the objects below them.

  142.            - Fast. DrawStudio is written to complement the
  143.            Amiga's graphics capabilities to the maximum.
  144.            Almost all the routines have been hand-written
  145.            by the authors for maximum speed on the Amiga,
  146.            leading to unparalleled redraw times for complex
  147.            illustrations.
